The Pathology Unit of ACUINUGA Aquaculture Division is involved in the prevention, prophylaxis, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting aquatic species.
To this end, the Pathology Unit carries out the following activities:
- The diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases and parasitic zoonoses, toxic episodes of phytoplanktonic origin, or pathologies resulting from poor management through:
- The collection of biopsies and biological samples (water, diets, substrate, product) at the farm.
- The analysis of samples in the laboratory using analytical tests following standardised methods (ISO standards, Standard Methods, AOAC, AFNOR, etc.).
- The use of software developed specifically for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and epizootics in aquatic species.
- The provision of specific veterinary disinfectants for aquaculture facilities; antimicrobial, antiparasitic and immunostimulant substances suitable for use in aquatic species.
- The development of personalised hygiene and prophylaxis plans to improve water quality and prevent disease, in accordance with the current legislative framework.
- Ongoing advice on technical aspects that guarantee animal welfare, crop quality and product safety for the end consumer.
