The IV Workshop on the cultivation of Soles took place at the Centro de Ciências do Mar of the Universidade do Algarve in Faro (Portugal), running for two and a half days, starting on Tuesday 11 November and closing on Thursday 13 November 2008.
The primary aim of the Workshop was to evaluate the current status and future needs of the sole farming industry. To this end, participants were invited from both the research and commercial sectors whose expertise covers the wide range of subject areas on which the future development of the industry will depend. The response to the meeting was excellent with more than 60 participants from Europe and China attending the meeting. A good mix of researchers and commercial operators allowed for a constructive debate of the current problems and possible solutions.
Acuinuga’s Aquaculture Division was represented at this important event for the optimization of sole culture, concerning both the development of new production techniques and nutritional aspects (design of specific diets for the feeding of this species).
